Patrick’s clients in Southwest Florida share a common thread: they’ve earned the right to retire well, and they want to do it without surprises.
Relocating Retirees
Moving to Florida full-time from a high-tax state? We coordinate the change in state residency, tax filings, and asset positioning — so the move pays for itself in year one.
Seasonal Residents
Splitting your year between Naples and a home up north? We handle the multi-state planning, domicile questions, and cash flow for households living in two places.
Large IRA Owners
Retirement accounts above $1M deserve specialized handling — Roth conversion ladders, RMD planning, beneficiary structures, and tax-efficient withdrawals.
Defense Industry Veterans
Former officers and defense professionals settling in Southwest Florida — we plan around military pensions, TSP rollovers, defense contractor equity, and VA benefits.
Charitable Retirees
If giving is part of your retirement, we optimize it. Donor-advised funds, qualified charitable distributions, and gifting strategies that maximize impact and minimize taxes.
Small Business Owners
Small business owners in Collier and Lee counties, we plan for succession, tax efficiency, and personal retirement alongside the business.
What Makes Retirement in Naples Different
Retiring in Florida isn’t just a change of address — it’s a change of tax code, healthcare network, estate law, and lifestyle. The clients who get the most out of life in Naples are the ones who plan for all of it, not just the weather.
-
01
No State Income Tax — But Timing Matters Florida’s no-state-income-tax advantage is real, but it only works if your domicile change is documented properly. Get it wrong and your former state will keep taxing you for years.
-
02
Homestead Protection & Asset Strategy Florida’s homestead law is among the most powerful asset protections in the country. We help clients structure ownership and beneficiary designations to take full advantage.
-
03
Seasonal & Multi-State Households If you split your year between Florida and another state, residency rules, healthcare networks, and cash-flow planning all need coordination — not assumptions.
-
04
Healthcare & Cost of Care The region has excellent healthcare options, but Medicare networks, supplemental coverage, and long-term care costs vary widely. We help you choose with eyes open.
-
05
Estate Planning Under Florida Law Florida probate, beneficiary rules, and homestead descent laws are unique. Estate documents drafted in another state may not work the way you think they do here.
Trusted by Families Across the Country
A small sample of what clients have written about working with Patrick — including those who made the move to Florida.
“Patrick Huey has been our financial advisor since our move from upstate NY to Florida in June, 2022. What we were looking for in a fiduciary was someone who was honest, accessible, friendly, proactive, affordable, could explain financial matters clearly and meet our financial goals in retirement. Patrick exceeded our expectations across the board.”

Answers for Naples & Southwest Florida Clients
Common questions from people considering retirement, relocation, or a second opinion on their plan.
A fiduciary is legally required to act in your best interest at all times — not just when it’s convenient. Patrick is a CFP® professional and an Investment Advisor Representative, both of which carry a fiduciary standard. That means recommendations are made based on what’s right for you, with no hidden product commissions driving the advice.
Ideally, six to twelve months before the move. Establishing Florida domicile properly — the difference between “I bought a house in Florida” and “I’m a Florida resident for tax purposes” — has real consequences for state income tax, estate planning, and asset titling. We help clients sequence the move so the tax savings start the year they intend, not three audits later.
Yes — it’s a meaningful share of our Naples practice. Seasonal-resident planning involves residency rules, multi-state tax considerations, health insurance and Medicare network coordination, cash flow across two households, and estate documents that work in both states. We coordinate all of it.
We’re fee-transparent. There are no commissions for selling proprietary products and no kickbacks on investments. The complete fee structure is provided in Dynamic Wealth Advisors’ ADV Firm Brochure, which we’ll walk through with you during your initial consultation. There are no surprises.
Most clients are professionals 55+ approaching or in retirement, with retirement assets ranging from several hundred thousand to several million dollars. We’re particularly suited to households with multi-state planning needs, large IRAs, equity compensation, or charitable giving plans. The best fit isn’t about a minimum — it’s about whether the planning is complex enough that coordinated advice pays for itself.
Absolutely. A meaningful number of our consultations are with people who already have an advisor or an existing annuity and want an independent fiduciary read on whether the plan is working. We’ll tell you honestly — including when the current plan is fine.
Patrick is an Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP), but our firm does not provide tax return filing. Instead, we focus on proactive, forward-looking tax planning as an integral part of your overall financial strategy. By coordinating our planning work with your tax preparer — rather than leaving you to translate advice between unconnected professionals — we often see one of the most consistent sources of long-term tax savings and financial clarity.
The first conversation is a no-cost, no-obligation 30–45 minute meeting — in our Naples office, by video, or by phone. We use the Check Six Client Discovery System™ to understand your situation, your goals, and what’s keeping you up at night. You’ll leave with clarity on whether we’re the right fit, regardless of whether we end up working together.
